I graduated from Princeton with a BA in Anthropology which influenced my interest in gaining cultural competency in social work, culminating in my Concentration in Social Work with Latino Populations, during my MSW at Rutgers. I trained for several years at Jewish Family and Children’s Service, where I worked with a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, bereavement, as well as with adolescents, couples, and adults. I have also worked with teens struggling with gender and sexual identity and how those important concerns have intersected with their cultures.
I believe that a strength-based perspective helps a person to reconsider his or her conception of self and this can aid a person in working toward a growth mindset. I have also studied mindfulness for managing anxiety and gaining the self-awareness necessary for living a calmer, less reactive life. Currently, I am working toward certification in Maternal Health with Post-Partum Support International, which will be completed in December 2020.
